Volunteer Recruitment
We are all in when it comes to being outdoors. Whether you want to race in an event, hang on the beach, listen to music or join the event crew as a volunteer, we think being together outdoors, in real life, makes all the difference.
We also have a bias toward the volunteering part. Our best times are when we work together. It’s more fun being part of the action. You’re going to make new friends, if just for the day. Plus, volunteers just seem to be more fun than the average Joe (no offense to the Joe’s of the world).
Beach sprints are an event like no other. High energy. Water flying everywhere. Four minutes of controlled mayhem start to finish.
Of course you want to be part of that. And if you do, you need to sign up to be a boat handler. You’ll hold the boat steady as the athletes come flying into the shells, then take off into the water. Yeah, you don’t get any closer to the action than this. Plus, you get free training at either the July 11 or August 1 Learn Beach Sprints sessions – which means you can also get IN a boat and try it.
Or not. Maybe you’re more of a hospitality-in-a-shady tent volunteer. We need you, too! Two quick options:
Athlete Hospitality
Register athletes, answer questions, sit in a shady tent. Sip on your beverage of choice. Not a bad way to spend an afternoon.
Festival Host
Answer questions, point to restrooms, make people feel welcome. Also in a shady tent. Also a great way to spend an afternoon.
Mayhem on the Water
If the lake is your happy place and you own a boat or jet ski, we have a special kind of volunteer experience you won’t find anywhere else – we promise. We need you to create mayhem on the water, a.k.a. wake for the competitors to row or paddle through. Bigger wake = better race. You make the wake just prior to the race, then bob around and watching the racers tried to make it through your waves.
Ice Guy (or Gal)
If you have mad golf cart skills, we need you. We’ll provide a golf cart, water and ice; you drive it where it needs to be. Beeping at guests is optional.
Beach Eco Crew
When you love something, you take care of it. We love the outdoors, the water, the beach, and the people who share our passion. So naturally, we want to leave the beach and Arcadia Lake better than before. Join us to make sure the shoreline stays clean and everything is ready to welcome families to Arcadia Lake for the days of the event and beyond.
